All humans have the extraordinary ability to learn to speak many languages. Come learn more about how you, as an early childhood educator, can support children and their families in their journey to acquiring one, two or more languages! Please note this three part series in English Will be the last for this program year, next one sometime in Fall 2021.
Participants will:
- Gain a deeper understanding about language acquisition
- Discuss the connection between language and culture
- Identify best practices to enhance oral language and literacy skills for our young Dual Language Learners
- Share strategies to engage with diverse families
- Plan for individual language needs in their classrooms
- Create a “language plan” for their classrooms
- Practice ways to engage children even when you don’t speak their language
- Share strategies for DLLs who are enrolled in remote learning
This training meets the Early Learning Scholarship requirement for six hours of professional development on Dual Language Learning. ** All 3 sessions must be attended to receive PD hours **
